Hi,
My name is Wes.
I am a combat veteran who used to struggle with Complex PTSD. The "C-PTSD" is still there, but I no longer struggle. It no longer controls me. I found the help I so desperately needed and ultimately decided to "Pay it forward". Originally, I had planned to create a small place to publish my journal entries, but after some thought, have decided to turn this place into something bigger and better.
Here you will find a one stop resource shop for mental health and rehabilitation. This is by no means meant to be an alternative for therapy, but it will help you find the help you may be seeking.
Where it goes from here is anyone's guess, but for now I will continue to do my share.
I am a certified Peer Support Specialist who focuses mainly on helping veterans, however I will help anyone who asks.
If I could, in this small space give you one message, it would be this...
If you are having issues coping with mental health or addiction, positive connections are the secret "medicine" vital to your healing and recovery. Humans are "connection" based. It is in our DNA. We live to connect. And when we connect with something positive whether it be a person or perhaps nature, we thrive. Bottom line is you need to sever all negative connections in your life and replace those with the positive. The key word here is "replace". Those thinking about merely isolating themselves from the bad connections and not replacing them with a positive one will regret their decision. For when we isolate and withdraw, we have truly dug our own grave. Because when isolation occurs, we start connecting with the really ugly stuff such as our own negative thoughts or chemicals. This eventually leads us to wither and die.
For a better understanding, go up above to the "Videos" menu and select "Addiction". Now watch the first video by Johann Hari.
Whether you have and addiction problem or you're a bit depressed. Positive connections are the key to regaining your healthy self.
