Hi,
My name is Wes.
I am a combat veteran who struggles with Complex PTSD.
I have a beautiful wife of 23 years and two beautiful girls. At the time of this writing, I am not with them. Instead, I am in a rehab facility working on my issues. I have terrorized them and myself for far too long and want a more healthy and tranquil life for all.
Originally, I had planned to create a small place to publish my journal entries, but after some thought, have decided to turn this place into something bigger and better.
Here you will find a one stop resource shop for mental health and rehabilitation. This is by no means meant to be an alternative for therapy, but it will help you find the help you may be seeking. I strongly believe in the concept of "Paying it forward".
Where it goes from here is anyone's guess, but for now I will continue to do what I have been taught.
Take my thoughts, place them on a leaf, and send them down the stream.
If you would like to learn more about me, addiction, or mental illness, continue reading. There is an explanation for almost everything.
Edit,
01/31/2023:
I have returned home. I am also a certified Peer and Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) and am currently continuing my journey/education in substance abuse and mental health.
Regards
I think the two biggest factors that have had the greatest impact on me, and my decision to create this site are my therapist (Angelina) and this treatment center (Granite Mountain BHC). As for my writing, my trauma is to be credited with the inspiration. I tend to write about dark stuff. I have found writing to be a fantastic coping skill. It feels good to purge and get it out but when it is liked, or someone is able to relate to it…It's just indescribable. It feels like I have put something helpful into the stream of life. And that's part of our purpose, isn't it?
I would like for this site and perhaps my journal to be able to help those that are searching. But in order for that to happen, I'm going to need your help.
So, please subscribe and utilize the contact form. Let me know what you want added Follow me on Instagram at @leaves.on.a.stream. If you have Facebook, I'm there too. I would love to learn more about who is visiting and reading.
And finally, if you know anyone that struggles with mental health, please share this site with them. It could provide the resources and support they need.
